In 2020, The Stay Hotel became Turkey's first carbon-neutral hotel company.

CARBON NEUTRAL

The Stay became Turkey's first carbon-neutral boutique hotel chain in 2020. We are committed to contributing to the fight against climate change by reducing emissions, increasing renewable energy use, and offsetting remaining emissions. Sustainability plays a key role at the center of our vision and values. We believe that hospitality can coexist in harmony with the well-being of our planet and communities. We continuously work to improve our energy efficiency, renewable energy use, water conservation, waste minimization, and sustainable sourcing. Our core initiatives are supported by a set of policies and measurable goals, all aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

Using eco-friendly local construction materials, we utilize recycled wood from old Anatolian houses in Turkey's Black Sea region, integrated energy-efficient systems, and sustainable construction practices. The overall design maximizes natural lighting and ventilation to reduce the need for artificial lighting and air conditioning, while also integrating green spaces and native plants to enhance biodiversity.

RESPONSIBLE WASTE MANAGEMENT

By implementing smart technology to monitor and control energy and water consumption, using a heating system powered by thermal waters, utilizing sustainable and locally sourced materials, and partnering with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, we carefully manage our resources to minimize waste and increase efficiency. We also practice responsible waste management, recycling, and composting.

RESPONSIBLE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

We believe in actively engaging with and supporting the local community. We prioritize hiring local staff, sourcing local products and services to encourage sustainable tourism practices, and collaborating with nearby businesses and organizations. We strive to provide opportunities for cultural exchange, support local artisans, and contribute to the economic development of the community.

SUSTAINABLE DINING

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our gastronomic experiences. We prioritize locally sourced, organic, and seasonal ingredients to support local farmers and minimize the carbon footprint associated with food transport. We encourage vegetarian and plant-based options and strive to reduce food waste through careful planning, portion control, and creative menu offerings.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We actively engage with the local society, encourage partnerships, and support local initiatives. We also contribute to community development projects, cultural preservation, and educational programs.
